CROFTON BIKE DOCTOR HISTORY
Mark and Julie Tollet founded the store in 1991 and opened the original location in Odenton, MD. Mr. Tollet was a cycling enthusiast and brought a pure love for the sport of cycling to the store. The Odenton location was the first Franchise that was sold by the Bike Doctor Franchise Corporation. The Tollet’s ran the store for several years until they sold it to Jason Leong in November of 1999. Mr. Leong ran the business in its existing location until June of 2002 when he moved the business to the new Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center. In December of 2003 Ernest and Amanda Freeland purchased the store from Mr. Leong. This was a dream come true for Ernest. Ernest started in the bicycle industry at the original Bike Doctor store in Arnold, Maryland while still in High School. He continued to work there through college and eventually became the store manager. Ernest left the Bike Doctor to enter the technology industry with positions in Sales and Business Development. Ernest’s love for cycling in retail kept calling to him and he returned to the bicycle industry in 2003 with the purchase of the store.
As the face of retail continues to change Crofton Bike Doctor believes that by providing world-class customer service as well as information and resources to enjoy the great sport of cycling, the store will continue to prosper. ABOUT THE BIKE DOCTOR STORES
Each Bike Doctor is an individually owned and operated franchise. The stores are primarily located in the Maryland area. Steve Ruck founded the first Bike Doctor in Arnold, Maryland in 1988. As the business started to grow several customers inquired about the possibility of owning their own stores. At that time Mr. Ruck started to consider the possibility of selling franchises of the Bike Doctor stores. Mr. Ruck sold the first franchise to Mark and Julie Tollet who opened their store in Odenton in 1991. The original store is now called Crofton Bike Doctor.
